CHORUS PRODUCTIONS 1958 - 1960 Do you remember?...
In 1958, it all began - the thrills, the work, the pride and many, many wonderful performances. Young high school students being professional, being tremendous - writing a story that will never be forgotten in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be there. |

Friday, February 19, 1960...Opening night of "Annie Get Your Gun". There were so many talented chorus members that year, that two chorus members were chosen for each of the lead characters. One group starred in the evening performances and another in the matinee performance on Saturday afternoon. Go HERE to see the program, which is filled with photographs of the casts, and read all about the production and the talented folks who performed in it both on and off the stage. Thanks to Marsha Siegel Herman (who starred as Winnie Tate in the evening cast) for contributing the program to our website. |

PENSACOLA HIGH SCHOOL BAND
William J. Holston
1930 - 2011 |
"Watch that sharp!" and "One more time!" are usual shouts heard in the PHS band room. Mr. Holston, and the student band leaders worked avidly trying to make their music soud like a professional organization, not like a high school band. The band is divided into several factions, such as the concert band, the marching band, and the dance band. A family within the school, the band selected a king and queen, chose the head majorette, and even had their own definite opinions about music. Mr. Holston, the "slave driver," managed to divert the band members long enough so that they could learn Chopin or "Dixie." |
