The Tiger`s Tale

Six copies of The Tiger's Tale have been donated by Gerry and Sharon Vinson, who carted them around for many years through several states.  According to Gerry, the papers "sat in the bottom of a trunk in an unsealed plastic bag for 49 years, moving from Florida to Central Texas to Southern California's high desert to San Francisco to Denver and finally to Oklahoma.  Sharon was the one who saved them."

If any of you should find other copies printed during our years at PHS, we would love to be able to share them with the rest of the class.

This issue is dated November 14, 1958.  It's hard to believe, but that was over 60 years ago -  the beginning of our junior year at PHS! The headline:  "Beat Jesuit! Tigers, Blue-Jays Claw in Bengal Stadium Tonight"   Find out more HERE.

Okay all you tigers, here comes a real blast from our past:  The first Tiger's Tale of our senior year, dated September 11, 1959.   You're bound to find some old forgotten memories hidden somewhere in these pages.  Click HERE if you want to find out.

November 20, 1959.  The Thanksgiving issue. It was a cold Thanksgiving, too.  And how many of you know that our classmates Joe Labrato and Mike Pietro actually wrote a song, "Beverley,"  that year?  The big news in this issue was "Rawson Leads Team to 27-0 Win Over Central Bobcats."   Go HERE  to get the scoop!

I guess that old adage "the more things change, the more they remain the same," still holds true, evidenced by the headline in the December 18, 1959, edition:  "Foreign Aid Is Controversial Issue."  You can also read about who won the leads in "Annie Get Your Gun," as well as "Boy's Holiday Fashions," and what some of you planned to do over the Christmas holidays.  Go HERE to read all about it!

Does anyone remember the April Fool's issue?  Go HERE to see how the creative folks on the paper's staff lampooned teachers and students with their "Mad" magazine parody.

How many of you remember the Maroon and White game?  You can read all about it HERE in the Easter issue (April 14, 1960).

On page 5  of the May 13, 1960, issue, you'll find some "Candid Shots Around PHS."  Go HERE to to see if there's anyone there you recognize.

Then you should check out the May 30, 1960, issue - the last one before graduation.  Click HERE to see your bequest in our Last Will and Testament.
