Following graduation, Pat Butler and Julie Ann Savage each penned a weekly column in The Pensacola News chronicling the "adventures" of PHS students at various colleges during their first year away.  Go HERE for some of their musings between September and December of 1960.  These are full page copies.  Click on the + sign at the top of the screen to enlarge the section you want to read.  This is a large file so allow time for it to download.

The Pensacola News featured a section entitled "Women and Their Interests."  Go HERE to view some photo articles that featured a few of our high school classmates following graduation.

Undefeated in the 1959 season, the team's final home battle was fought on November 13, 1959, when they faced the Knoxville Central Bobcats in Tiger Stadium.  The November 13th issue of The Pensacola Journal featured an article "Pensacola High Favored to Rack Knoxville Central Tonight" as well as a column by Al Padgett, the Journal Sports Editor ("The Wise Ol' Al"), heaping praise on the team and Coach Scoggins, which ended with the following paragraph: "A lot of people are expected to turn out and pay tribute to a great football team and an equally outstanding coaching staff.  Let's hope Central doesn't spoil the whole thing."   Well we all know that they didn't!  The headline in the Sports section of the Journal the next morning was "Tigers Nail Down 21st Win, 27-0."  Our Principal, Mr. Lipscomb, wrote a letter to the Journal and staff thanking them for the articles about the team that appeared in the paper on November 13th.  Go HERE to read them all.
