Classmate Profiles

Deceased classmates have been moved to the In Memoriam section of the website. Click HERE for a list of those classmates. With those exceptions, every senior classmate that appeared in the 1960 ANNONA has a profile here. Please follow the instructions below to find or create your profile and update your information. If, after reading the instructions, you are not able to access your profile, go ahead and create a new one and it will be merged with the old one.
1) Type your LAST name into the "search" box found below in the center of the page and enter. When your profile appears, you will see a notation on the right: "Is this You? Fill in your profile here." Click on "here" and a Registration Form will appear. Note: The default listing is by "name at graduation" and enter LAST name only, which for the ladies would be your maiden name. Please try to edit from the existing profile unless you did not appear in the graduating class in the 1960 ANNONA.
2) Choose a Username and Password. Both will be required if you need to edit your profile in the future so you should make a note of them. (If you forget, you can be sent a reminder through the website.)
3) Complete the registration form. Note: The website administrator has access to all of the information on the registration form, but none of your personal information will appear on the website unless you want it to.
4) Upload a recent ("now") photo to your profile by clicking on the "browse" or "choose file" button that appears below "now" and locate the image on your computer.
5) You must click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the form to save the changes.
If you need help, please access the CONTACT US page found on the menu bar to the left, to ask for assistance.

Joyce, passed on October 18, 2015. High school sweethearts at PHS, we were together for 58 years and married for 51. I married Donna Lee Carpenter on October 29, 2016. A dear friend of Joyce and I for 40 years, she has two daughters and four grandchildren. With my marrage to Donna, life has taken on new meaning for both of us. In addition, we enjoy spending time with friends, family and grandchildren. I continue to enjoy reading, fishing and a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. After careers as a Naval Officer (BS, USNA'64; MBA, Pepperdine} and in Aerospace Engineering, I continue to stay active in Austin real estate. |

I married a navy pilot the week after graduation. Dennis and I will celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary in June. We lived in Maine, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii and California: wonderful places to live and raise our children. We returned to Pensacola in 1987, bought an old Victorian in North Hill and love living here. We spend our time maintaining this old house, gardening, collecting and selling antiques, playing tennis (I still play ladies league), bridge and traveling. Our children live in Boston, San Diego and San Francisco (great places to visit). We have traveled to Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, England, Spain, Ireland and this past Christmas, East Africa. We attend First Baptist Church. Life has been good. |

Comment:
I am living a simple, and gloriously fulfilling, life on the seven-mile-square island of my dreams in the Caribbean Sea. I first visited the Caribbean in 1975. On a sailing trip to islands of the Lesser Antilles, in 1978, our family discovered tiny, obscure Bequia. The color, light, flora, fauna, and people kept me coming back to paint and write, even though I had traveled elsewhere. In 1999, I rented an old island house in the harbor and created a studio where I still continue to paint and show my work. In 2006, Doug and I became permanent citizens here and bought a dramatic stone, glass, and wood house, we named "Zeebreeze" in memory of our son, Zachary. It is perched high above Spring Plantation with a vast view of coconut groves and the Atlantic Ocean far below. In 1999, Macmillan Caribbean published a book of my art work, BEQUIA REFLECTIONS, An Artist in the Caribbean. This book, and my artwork, have made their way throughout the world. That same year, I rented Mango Tree Cottage and established a studio, which I still maintain. In 2005, I published a book with Xlibris, USA, about the adventures of my 89-year-old British landlady, Dr. Vivian Child: TO AN ISLAND IN AFRICA, Working, Walking, and Painting in Tanzania, 1951-1953. Islands Magazine wrote a one-page feature about me and our move in the July/August 2008 issue. I am working on a picture book about a fellow artist who has traveled from Australia to our little island for years to paint the traditional life here. I continue to find new ways to paint and write about this island so full of color and life, where I meet fascinating people from all over the world. "Google: Julie Savage Lea" www.amazon.com is featuring coffee table book: Tropical Homes of the Eastern Caribbean. The chapter about me and my studio, Mango Tree Cottage, is on page 236 and shows up on Amazon listing. I teach art classes to visitors during the winter season and deliver art supplies and lead classes for island children throughout the year. I've restored two big paintings for our oldest church on the island and painted murals in restaurants and once for a luxury yacht. The waters here have that same emerald-green and turquoise colors as the Gulf of Mexico, but the sands are golden, not the white, quartz sand of Pensacola Beaches...however, there are PALM TREES along the shores...and I was always dreaming of such beaches..in spite of the beauty of the Gulf shores. We feel really blessed each day. Still, the price "to pay" is being so far away from friends and family, and, next month, from seeing PHS Classmates. But you guys are doing a great job, and I'm enjoying looking at the online pages. Editor's Note: Last January, The Wall Street Journal published Julie's article about her move to the Caribbean in the Encore section. Click HERE to see a copy of the article. |
